SPH London — Brand Strategy & Visual Identity for a London Property Consultancy Merger

Brand strategy · Positioning · Brand messaging · Visual identity
Construction and professional services · London

The context

In 2024, two established London consultancies decided to merge.

Piercehill Consulting had been operating since 1981, bringing over forty years of experience in quantity surveying and cost consultancy.

Stature London, founded in 2016, offered quantity surveying and project management services across multiple sectors, supported by its own digital cost reporting platform.

I was brought in to develop the strategy and identity for the combined business, bringing both consultancies together under one new brand, SPH London.

The challenge

Both businesses had built strong reputations, but their experience, capabilities and approaches were different.

The challenge was to create a unified brand that retained the strengths of both consultancies while establishing a clear and compelling proposition for the combined business.

Existing clients needed confidence in the merger, while the leadership teams needed a shared vision for the future.

This was about more than creating a new identity. It was about bringing two established businesses together with a clear direction, a consistent message and a strong foundation for growth.

The approach

My recommendation was to build the new brand around the complementary strengths of both businesses, rather than allowing one to take priority over the other.

Piercehill brought forty years of experience, established relationships and deep industry knowledge. Stature offered a more modern approach to project delivery, supported by digital reporting and specialist expertise.

The opportunity was to bring these strengths together, creating a consultancy that combined established expertise with modern thinking and technology.

This became the foundation of the positioning and informed the brand promise, Building Trust, Guiding Excellence.

The work

I led the brand strategy and positioning process, working with both leadership teams to establish a shared direction for the new business.

This included developing the mission, vision, values, value proposition and brand promise, supported by six key differentiators that brought together the strongest capabilities of both consultancies.

I also developed the brand messaging and tone of voice, alongside wider business objectives around growth, project values and performance.

Finally, I created a completely new visual identity, including the logo, typography, colour palette and wider design system.

Rather than combining elements of the previous identities, the new visual language gave SPH London a confident, contemporary identity that reflected its combined strengths and future ambitions.

The impact

SPH London officially launched in October 2024 with a clear identity, positioning and message that brought two established consultancies together under one brand.

The new brand helped establish SPH London as a unified business, giving existing and prospective clients a clearer understanding of its combined expertise and capabilities.

Beyond the launch, the strategy provided a shared direction for the leadership team, with agreed values, priorities and objectives to guide future decisions.

Since the merger, SPH London has continued to grow, expanding its team, client base and project portfolio. The brand has provided a strong foundation for this next chapter, supporting the business as it builds its reputation and presence in the market.
